Alabama's Gun Laws Could Soon Change With Possible Vote This Week

A topic that many Alabamians feel strongly about is gun laws. With a possible vote this week, a change could be on the horizon for Alabama's gun laws.

The constitutional carry bill, also known as House Bill 272 could possibly be up for a vote on the House floor. According to the NRA-ILA, that vote could take place as early as this week.

Alabama Sheriffs and lawmakers have been speaking out in favor of constitutional carry.

Right now in Alabama, only the criminals are carrying without a permit, frankly, and they're going t keep carrying whether you have a permit or not," Jones said.

"This is really about legal citizens, normal everyday people wanting to be able to defend themselves."

Along with other changes, House Bill 272 would eliminate the requirement for a person to obtain a concealed carry permit in order to lawfully carry a pistol.

According to the NRA-ILA, the House needs to first approve a budget isolation resolution in order for constitutional carry to advance.

Comments under the NRA's video featured people in support of the bill and some against the NRA itself.
