The state of Alabama will be represented Saturday night when the Alabama Shakes take the stage on SNL. This Bama-based band was formed in Athens in 2009 and have been making a name for themselves since, earning three Grammy nominations this year.

The group is fronted by the soulful vocals of Brittany Howard (did you see her kill it in the Levon Helm tribute on the Grammys Sunday? Girl was on FIRE!) with Heath Fogg on guitar, Zac Cockrell on bass, and Steve Johnson on drums. They played a (not-so) secret show at Egan's here in Tuscaloosa over last Thanksgiving Break.

Their first full-length album, Boys & Girls, was released in April of 2012. Check out one of the album's best tracks, "Hold On." Make sure you turn your speakers up for this one!

This weekend's episode of SNL will be hosted by Academy Award winner and Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz. Set your DVR's now!
