On Aug. 7 the SEC announced the two new opponents that would be added to each teams' schedules. The Crimson Tide was originally scheduled to open its season against USC in Dallas on September 5. With all the changes over the course of the last few months the Tide's original schedule was thrown out the window.

The SEC has now announced the opening week's matchups. Alabama will play on the road to open the season at Missouri on Sept. 26. The opening week's schedule is as follows.

  • Alabama @ Missouri
  • Kentucky @ Auburn
  • Georgia @ Arkansas
  • Mississippi State @ LSU
  • Florida @ Ole Miss
  • Tennessee @ South Carolina
  • Vanderbilt @ Texas A&M

The last time Alabama played Missouri was in 2018 in Tuscaloosa. Alabama defeated the Tigers on Homecoming 39-10. Tua Tagovailoa passed for 265 yards and three touchdowns.

The Crimson Tide has a four-game winning streak over the Tigers since 1978 and are 4-2 all-time against Missouri. The Tide has not lost to Missouri since they entered the SEC in 2012, defeating them in Columbia 42-10 in 2012 and in the SEC Championship 42-13 in 2014.

Missouri will be led by Eli Drinkwitz who is in his first year coaching in the SEC with the Tigers. Drinkwitz was previously the head football coach at Appalachian State where he went 12-1 last season. The Tigers were 6-6 last season.

The rest of the SEC schedule is expected to be released at 6 p.m. tonight. Will Alabama and Tennessee maintain their traditional "Third Saturday in October" date? When will Alabama welcome Georgia to Tuscaloosa? Will the Tide end up playing Auburn earlier than the final week?
