Saturday was a historic day for the Alabama Crimson Tide athletic program. The Tide claimed the 2021 SEC Championship by defeating the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs 41-24 in football and the Alabama basketball team took down powerhouse Gonzaga in Seattle for a statement win for head coach Nate Oats.

It was the first time an athletic program had beaten two top-five teams in two different sports on the same day but they weren't the only wins the Tide faithful can celebrate.

Alabama 2022 commit, quarterback Ty Simpson led his Westview Chargers to winning the school's first state championship on Saturday. The Chargers won the Tennessee Class 2A state championship by defeating the Hampton Bulldogs 55-14 in Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, TN.

Simpson was named the game's MVP after completing 5-of-10 passes for 99 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. He also took 10 carries for the Chargers and gained 181 yards and two more touchdowns.

Simpson is already embodying the Crimson Tide Culture as he hit the "Crimson Crane" after scoring his third touchdown of the game.

Simpson, who's dad is the head coach for the UT Martin Skyhawks, has been committed to Alabama since February 2021. He's embraced the role as quarterback of the class and been instrumental in adding other prominent players to the 2022 class.

The 6-foot-2, 185 pound quarterback is considered a 5-star prospect, the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee and the No. 3 quarterback in the class of 2022. He's drawn comparisons to Brett Favre and Patrick Mahomes as a high-schooler due to his ability to improvise and excel when plays break down.

His final stat line for his senior year was very impressive, Simpson completed 201-of-327 passes for 2,921 passing yards for 44 TDs and six interceptions. He also rushed for 1,206 yards and 15 more touchdowns on the ground.
