Tony Mitchell, a 5-star cornerback out of Alabaster, AL has put the Crimson Tide in his latest top 5 list. His list included Alabama, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida, and Georgia, but Nick Saban would love to keep this in-state prospect in Alabama.

Mitchell has earned a top-three ranking nationally at his position and as a top-three athlete in Alabama according to 247Sports.

Being just a junior in high school Mitchell’s stats are very impressive. He has 200 career tackles, seven interceptions, and three forced fumbles, additionally he helped lead the Thompson Warriors to the state championship three times in a row.

Looking at Mitchell on tape, his quickness and body frame stands stand out more than anything as he can play physically as well as stay with very fast wide receivers when playing man-to-man coverage. Mitchell demonstrated his elite coverage skills at his latest 7-on-7 camp camps as he was rarely seen being beat on by any wide receiver.

Saban's success with coaching and getting defensive backs into the NFL should always bring hope to Tide fans that Alabama will get the top cornerbacks every year. Mitchell could be a great asset to the Crimson Tide secondary as would join alongside another young corner in Earl Little Jr. who has already signed with Alabama.
