Excuse Me While I Scream at My Computer

Log on to social media in the wake of Alabama's new abortion ban, and you'll see countless insults about how stupid we Southerners are. I am just going to come out and say it: I am pissed.

I saw one "friend" post a tired joke about how it was okay to insult Alabamians because we'd never be able to read it anyway, and that was the final straw.

I am a Southerner, and I am not stupid.

I was born and raised in Alabama, and I moved back to the Heart of Dixie ten years ago. I went to college on a full tuition scholarship. I am an avid reader and do my best to live my life with compassion for others.

I don't agree with our state's abortion ban. I'm not going to inundate you with my personal politics. That's not my place--but I will say that hating on all Alabamians sure as hell isn't going to make anyone change his or her mind.
