In the time since the embattled head coach turned up a goose egg on national signing day, a litany of rumors and allegations have flown around regarding Harsin’s treatment of players and staff as well as some of an extramarital affair with his assistant.
Rumors have been circulating that the hard-nosed Harsin may not last much longer as Auburn's administration evaluates the sustainability of what he has built. The Auburn powers that be have been meeting over the weekend and the university has now released a statement, keeping the college football world up to date on Harsin's status.
Harsin signed a 6-year, $30 million contract with the Tigers in 2021 and therefore has five years remaining on his contract. Should the Auburn administration be able to prove Harsin was involved in an inappropriate relationship the University could opt to fire him with cause, and thus save the roughly $18 million buyout he has remaining on his contract.
Auburn junior quarterback Bo Nix announced through his social media accounts on Sunday night that he would be entering the transfer portal. Nix has started for the Tigers for the last three seasons, however his 2021 season was cut short due to an ankle injury.
