They say the little things can bring us the biggest joy, would this Highway 43 North road work qualify?

There is a fairly short stretch of this road leading up to County High School, it's long enough to make for a torture ride.  These rough conditions date back to the winter.  At first, it was mainly a right lane thing.  So, you drive in the left.  Now, it's double misery with both lanes being garbage.

The light at the end of the tunnel as Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon announced road work plans.  Hooray!!  The mayor posted, "they should start milling or removing the old asphalt on highway 43 north on Tuesday."  They're targeting to have the work complete before the new year of school starts.

I talked with the paving contractor and they should start milling or removing the old asphalt on highway 43 north on...

The road crew has already scraped off the top layer of pavement, and the road is already ten times better. Here I am, writing about a road being paved. Hey, if you've driven in this area, you know how unbearable it was. When this thing is done, it will feel like getting the perfect gift on Christmas morning!

Take a look at these captivating images from the scene today.
