Pokie the cat is B101.7's Pet of the Week with the Humane Society of West Alabama. This male orange and white tabby likes to strut around the room and spend time with the ladies.

Here is an 8 year old gentle guy who loves affection, most of the time. There are times this superstar doesn't want to be held. Hey, he is a cat.

Pokie is used to being around other cats, and he would do better with a more submissive and docile cat. He could also tolerate dogs, but he'd like a little time to adjust before a dog is introduced, since the Humane Society has never had him around dogs.

You'll find that he can be a a bit bashful, but not at all skittish. It's not unusual for Pokie to be a little cautious with a new person, but he will warm up once he gets used to someone.

Pokie is competing for attention and affection in the adoption center and would do very well in a less competitive atmosphere. He'll most definitely open up once he's in his forever home.

I've been told that Pokie is a very confident guy and can be a little conceited - sometimes he likes to strut his stuff to show other cats who he is! Yeah, that sounds hilarious. Apparently, there are times when the unimpressed female cats will knock him down a peg or two with a swift swat of their paw! He does get picked on a little, which could result in his initial shyness. When he gets his very own family, everything will get sweeter.

Pokie is negative for FIV/ FeLK, current on vaccinations and neutered. If you are interested in giving Poco the forever home she wants and deserves contact the Humane Society of West Alabama. The website is HumaneSocietyOfWA.org or reach them by phone at 205-554-0011.

I went out the cat adoption center to meet this Pokie fella. Upon arrival, I see he is snuggled up with a lady cat. Then, he proceeds to strut around. He's the boss! The video is below.
