A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a train in Tuscaloosa Tuesday afternoon.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said officers were called at 3:21 p.m. and alerted by a Norfolk Southern Railroad employee that a train had struck a person walking along the tracks.

Taylor said the accident happened in the area of McFarland Boulevard and Dr. Edward Hillard Drive and officers are in that area at this time.

She confirmed the accident was fatal.
