Greg Thomas’ Dog Abbey Is Training for the Canine Classic 5K [VIDEO]

Coming up this Saturday morning (Sept. 19), it's the annual Canine Classic 5K at Kentuck Park, and my dog is ready to go couch to 5K! You should she her training for the big day!

The annual race in Northport is hosted by the Humane Society of West Alabama, and serves as a major annual fundraising event. I'd love to see you there. Maybe you'll see Abbey the dog in action too!

Let me back up and give background on my 3-year-old Terrier mix female pup, she comes from the Humane Society of West Alabama. People ask, don't you want to bring home all those sweet animals you feature in the Pet of the Week segment? Well, one of the shelter dogs did make it to my house. This one wasn't even a featured pet, my wife and I didn't let her get there. It's unbelievable that she was once unwanted, living in a shelter. Things have changed!

She is a funny dog who likes to lay around on the couch. Lately, she has been seen stretching out and sprinting, as the race nears. There are also plenty of breaks, she more work to do! Haha! Well, I hate to bust her bubble, dogs are welcome, but not in the run/walk.
