Green Day’s Mike Dirnt Sells ‘Stunning’ Home for $6.6 Million
Mike Dirnt, the bassist for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-inducted punk band Green Day, has sold his home in the Oakland suburb of Piedmont, Calif. The price was $6.625 million, a little below the $6.8 million he was asking for the property when it was listed in the spring, but $775,000 more than he paid for it in 2016.
"Spectacular views, privacy, a three-quarter-acre lot, and comfortable yet grand spaces set this home apart," said Heidi Marchesotti of BHG Highland Partners, who held the listing. "It's difficult to find this sought-after combination in a home of this caliber."
The gated house contains five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms in 6,712 square feet. The listing called it a “stunning example of early California Mediterranean architecture" with white stucco and clay tile, with tall ceilings, hardwood floors and hand-plastered walls. A spiral staircase with wrought-iron railings leads up to the second floor, while exposed beams and floor-to-ceiling windows make the living room stand out. The kitchen, which has a butler's pantry, was recently renovated, and the yard contains a pool, spa, pergola, fountain and a large grassy area.
The Los Angeles Times says that it's the fourth house he's sold in the past three years, following homes in the Southern California towns of Ojai, Newport Beach and Montecito.
Green Day haven't released anything since 2016's Revolution Radio. However, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong created a side project called the Longshot, who released an album called Love Is for Losers in 2018. Unfortunately, the last few dates of their West Coast tour was postponed when one of its members had a family emergency.
