David Letterman has been credited as a comedy pioneer by many, including his talk show competition. On the night before he would host his final Late Show show, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel both shared how they were influenced by David Letterman.

It's about to come to an end, after 33 years, tonight will be show number 6,028 and the last as a host. Through the years, Dave went outside of the box, experimented and did things different. Stuff like dropping a watermelon off a building, human and pet tricks and other bits made for memorable TV.

On the second to last night, it was good to see Rupert Jee as a guest. He was sent out on the street to approach strangers and say the most awkward stuff, all by Dave's direction. Hysterical, the montage clip is below.

An emotional Jimmy Kimmel went on his show to honor Letterman and share the impact on him. Kimmel even went as far as to say he would have a rerun show on Wednesday, so everyone could watch Letterman's final night.

Then, there was Jimmy Fallon and his tribute on The Tonight Show. The show once hosted by Letterman's idol, Johnny Carson.

Tonight, we get one more chance to see the King of Late Night TV grace the stage at the Ed Sullivan theater in New York City. What should we expect? The word is plenty of flashbacks to reflect on an amazing run in comedy history. Other than that, not much else being said, except to say plenty of surprises.

The Late Show with David Letterman finale will air Wednesday night at 10:35pm on WIAT-TV 42.
