Expect lengthy delays in Tuscaloosa and Northport as construction has now begun on Lurleen Wallace Boulevard.  Crews are working to expand Lurleen Wallace Boulevard, adding turning lanes and creating a sidewalk to the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.

Commuters this morning were met with lengthy delays, as traffic backed up for miles trying to cross the bridge into Tuscaloosa. Traffic has also started to backup on McFarland Boulevard as motorists sought alternate routes.

The project is expected to take a minimum of 18 months to complete.
