Coach Saban Provides Update on Will Anderson
Alabama's best defender in pass rusher Will Anderson remains at a day-to-day status according to head coach Nick Saban.
Anderson did practice yesterday according to Saban and still has a chance to play in Saturday's huge matchup against the Florida Gators.
After losing Anderson's pass rushing counterpart in Christopher Allen during the first game of the season against Miami, names like Drew Sanders, Dallas Turner, and Chris Braswell were expected to step up in Allen's absence. Now, the less experienced defenders may be expected to handle both sides of the edge for the Crimson Tide against Florida.
"If [Anderson] doesn't play in the game, we have several other players who have played the position in Braswell and Dallas Turner. We've already lost Chris Allen and both guys are really unique players that I don't think you can replace. But these other guys are capable, they're young guys and don't have the same level of experience but we are certainly confident they can go in and do a good job for us," said coach Saban during Wednesday morning's SEC teleconference.
With a tough early test on Saturday against two mobile quarterbacks for the Gators, Alabama will need all hands on deck in order to leave Gainesville with a victory. Whether Will Anderson is on the field or not, Alabama will need their best effort from all 22 starters in order to take down Florida.
