Check Out This Awesome New ESPN Ad Featuring the Greatest College Mascot of All Time

This latest SportsCenter promo had me in tears at my desk this morning. Is there a better way to start the weekend that with tears of joy? NO. NOT WHEN BIG RED IS INVOLVED.

I attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and my Hilltoppers will always hold a special place in my heart. WKU is a great school, and it just so happens to have The Greatest Mascot of All Time, Big Red.

Big Red is this red, pan-sexual thing we all love. I don't know what he is. I don't think anyone really knows what he is. He's supposed to represent the spirit of all Hilltoppers or something like that: Big Red made his debut in the 70's when a WKU student introduced him in a college-wide competition for a new mascot. I mean, it was the 70's, so most of the kids were pretty blazed... Regardless of his birth origin, Big Red is still my favorite mascot.

Don't get me wrong: I love Big Al, but it's pretty obvs he's an elephant. Big Red is... Big Red. RESPECT.
