I'm kind of strange when it comes to my kid. I want to save everything, because I want to remember every moment. I've been successful in resisting the urge so far; I don't want to end up on an episode of Hoarders. Anyway, something important happened for my little one this weekend, and I just had to keep a memento of the milestone. Am I crazy?

Dolores' hair was looking all kinds of CRAY. It was late yesterday afternoon when I realized she was starting to resemble one of the Herdmans of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever fame. It was time for a trim. I had not wanted to cut her hair because I'm still in denial about her being old enough for haircuts, but I quickly got over that when I saw my kid's hair looked like that of a feral cat.

I grabbed a pair of scissors and a itty-bitty baby comb; with a few snips, she was a brand-new girl. I was probably a little too emotional about it, and I saved a lock of her hair. My husband made fun of me for doing so. I dismissed his jesting because he's a dude, and dudes DON'T GET IT.

I guess it is kind of strange that I am saving someone else's hair. I also saved her umbilical cord stump after it fell off, too. So the hair and the stump are both in a little keepsake box, and I feel like this is a pretty normal "mom" thing to do, but I may be wrong.
