Alec Baldwin Returns as Eclipse-Peeping Donald Trump on ‘Weekend Update’
Alec Baldwin is back and better than ever.
Baldwin reprised his role as President Donald Trump Thursday night (August 24) on Weekend Update‘s newest summer episode in a performance that proved rust has most definitely not set in since his last appearance.
Baldwin recreated Trump's now-infamous rally in Phoenix, complete with references to Charlottesville (including calling himself the "tragic victim"), how he stared at the sun during the solar eclipse, Steve Mnuchin's wife, who'll really pay for his heavily-promoted wall and the man holding the "Blacks for Trump" sign. And, of course, he took aim at the media and welcomed a creepy cameo from Steve Bannon.
Though he's gone back and forth on the matter, Baldwin has said he'll continue to portray Trump on Saturday Night Live, the next season of which will premiere on September 30 with Ryan Gosling as host.
