Alabama Coaching Staff Recognizes 10 Players of the Week following Arkansas
The Alabama coaching staff recognized 10 players of the week following the Crimson Tide’s 41-9 victory over Arkansas in last Saturday’s Homecoming matchup. Damien Harris, Calvin Ridley and Jonah Williams on offense, Rashaan Evans, Shaun Dion Hamilton and Ronnie Harrison on defense, and Josh Jacobs, Andy Pappanastos, JK Scott and Daniel Wright on special teams were honored by the Tide staff.
Harris led all Alabama rushers once again, recording his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game and his third in the last four games. The junior tailback gained 125 yards on the ground with two touchdowns, averaging 13.9 yards per carry to increase his season average to 9.2, which ranks second nationally. Williams stood out along an offensive front that cleared a path for 308 rushing yards and 496 yards of total offense. The sophomore left tackle did not surrender a sack or a quarterback hurry and registered four knockdown blocks to grade out at a team-high 92 percent. Ridley paced the Tide wideouts, collecting a team-high four receptions for 51 yards, with three of his four catches going for a first down.
The trio of Harrison, Evans and Hamilton were key to the Tide limiting the Arkansas offense to just 27 yards rushing and 227 total yards. The defense was led in tackles by Harrison, who closed out his night with a season-high 10 stops along with one pass breakup. The linebacker tandem of Evans and Hamilton each accounted for six total tackles apiece to tie for second-most. Evans notched a career-best 3.5 tackles for loss (-22 yards) as well as a career-high tying two sacks (-20 yards), while adding a forced fumble and a team-high tying two quarterback hurries to his totals. Hamilton finished with a career-high 1.5 sacks (-13 yards) and was consistently around the ball from his middle linebacker spot.
Scott flipped the field for the Tide, punting three times for an average of 43.7 yards per boot, with two of those landing inside the 20. He also kicked off eight times totaling 511 yards to average 63.9 per kick with four going for a touchback. Pappanastos finished perfect on his seven kicks once again, contributing 11 points thanks to a pair of field goals and five extra points. Wright added to his team lead for special teams tackles with one stop on kickoff coverage, while Jacobs made his first special teams tackle of the season to help keep the Razorbacks in favorable field position for the Crimson Tide defense.
