Alabama Adds First-Place Votes in Latest Amway Coaches Poll
Much of the Southeastern Conference faltered in the opening weekend of college football, but The University of Alabama strengthened its position as the nation's best team.
After a 52-6 destruction of previously-ranked Southern California, the Crimson Tide gained seven first place votes to widened its gap of No. 2 Clemson. Alabama received 62 of the 64 first place votes in the Amway Coaches Poll heading into week two.
The SEC still placed seven total teams in the top 25, but many of those teams dropped this week. Kirby Smart and Georgia are second in the conference at No. 9 while Tennessee (No. 14) and LSU (No. 22) fell out of the top 25.
The biggest movers up the rankings were Houston (from 13th to 7th), Wisconsin (from unranked to 16th), and Texas (from unranked to 20th).
