Attention fans of the swoosh, Tuscaloosa will have its own Nike Factory Store beginning this week!

All the way back in January, while shopping in the Nike Factory Store at Pier Park in Panama City Beach, Florida, I first heard about a new store coming here. You see, use of my credit card calls for a check of my ID. Well, when it was for my purchase, the person at the counter asked, "where's Northport, Alabama?" I replied by saying, "next to Tuscaloosa." Then, the insider info was dropped, the guy revealed Tuscaloosa is getting a store soon. Alright, Roll Tide!

At that time, I thought it would end up in the new Shoppes at Legacy Park.  Flash forward to June, I'm over at Midtown Village, and nearly drove into somebody when I noticed that signature Nike swoosh hanging on the wall.  That's a great location visible from a busy McFarland Boulevard.

I walked up closed to snap a photo showing boards up on the windows and and the front blocked off, you couldn't see much.  That was a week ago.  Just Friday, windows are visible, the back has dumpsters full of empty boxes and trucks line up to drop off deliveries.  As for up front, you could see a bunch workers unloading mountains of boxes and stocking shelves. They're just days away from opening.

When is the opening?  Midtown Village announced on its Facebook page the Nike store opens Thursday, July 2nd at 10am. Plus, the post stated, "the first 200 customers will receive a $10 store gift card and a pair of earbuds. There is also a giveaway for a $500 Nike gift card." Whoa, the damage I could do with that!

Here's the Midtown Village Facebook post on the opening:
