You Won’t Have To Sign For Credit Card Purchases Starting This Weekend
Maybe the checkout lanes will move a little faster. Starting this Saturday April 14, major credit companies won't ask you to sign receipts for credit card and debit card purchases.
Merchants can decide whether to have you sign or not, but the credit card companies won't require them anymore. According to AL.com, the companies believe people will find it easier to pay and checkout lines will move faster if they don't have to sign when making purchases.
Improvements in card security has made the change possible, in particular chip-embedded cards. Visa says merchants have seem a 66% decline in counterfeit card fraud over the last 2 years because of the chips.
