DeVonta Smith brought home the Heisman last night, and after the announcement was made his former professor shared a story about what he'd done to make her football season memorable.

University of Alabama Professor Neikia Nix Morgan posted her thoughts to Facebook last night. She began by sharing what it was like to have DeVonta in class.

"I am honored that I got to be his teacher. But even more so, I am so thankful I got the opportunity to learn a little bit about his heart. Devonta’s work ethic and humble spirit is something to be praised. I watched him walk into class 3 days a week, sit on the front row, and try to be invisible and just learn—not something I can say for every student—but it just goes to show what you see is what you get," Morgan said.

Morgan then shared a story about the time DeVonta went out of his way to do something special for her--she said she'd told the class one day that she'd always wanted to be able to stand on the field of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Shortly after, she found that DeVonta had been selected as the student athlete of the week and that he'd be able to have a teacher join him on the sidelines during pre-game warmups. DeVonta chose Morgan, making her dream of seeing Bryant-Denny come true.

Morgan also said that one day she asked the class to describe their dream jobs and DeVonta's response showed how thoughtful he is.

"One of our class assignments was to describe your dream job. Wanna know what his was? To give back to others like those had done for him," she said.
