Long Beach State University student Karlesha Thurman sparked a social media firestorm thanks to a single photo of her breastfeeding her baby during her graduation ceremony.

The 25-year-old posted the picture of herself on Facebook after receiving her accounting degree from the school in May.

In the picture, Thurman is wearing her cap and gown and is breastfeeding her three-month-old daughter. Fellow graduates are hanging around in the background celebrating their accomplishment.

The Facebook page Black Women Do Breastfeed posted the photo of Thurman with the caption "Congratulations, mama!!!! Giving her daughter more gifts than one! Isn't this beautiful?! #normalizebreastfeeding"

Thurman took to her Facebook page Monday to thank supporters and relay her hope that the story blows over soon:

Today has been a long day. Thanks again to everyone who has had anything nice to say about me and my photo, I have been reading all the positive emails and post and will finish the rest in the morning, but for now I'm going to log off and spend time with my family. P.S. Hopefully something BIG happens overnight and I wake up being 'old news.'

Listen to what we had to say about the story on the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning show Tuesday (June 10) morning below.
