Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Sunday, December 31, 2017
The final day of 2017 could be a messy one for West Alabama; the latest forecast calls for a chance of sleet and freezing rain.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 3 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, December 31st. Tuscaloosa could see a light glaze of ice from freezing rain, which could make travel difficult.

The ice will result in very slippery conditions on sidewalks, roads and bridges. Total ice accumulations of a light glaze, or less than a tenth of an inch, are expected. * WHERE...Portions of central and west central Alabama. This includes areas along and north of a line from Nanafalia to Selma to Marbury. As well as along and south of a line from Verbena to West Blocton to Samantha to Sulligent. * WHEN...From 3 AM to 6 PM CST Sunday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
