Wind Advisory in Effect Through Midnight Tonight
Today's forecast calls for rain and gusty winds, and as such, the National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Wind Advisory in effect until midnight tonight (Thursday, December 27, 2018).
Sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles an hour are possible today with wind gusts of up to 30-40 miles per hour. The text of the advisory is as follows:
...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT... * TIMING...through this evening. * WINDS...Sustained 20 to 30 mph, with gusts around 30 to 40 mph. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could knock down tree branches and vulnerable or weakened trees. Travel may be difficult at times for those in high profile vehicles. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Wind Advisory means that wind gusts up to 35 mph may occur. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect until 12 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, December 28, 2018).
