This quarantine has me going insane and wanting a change of pace. I actually shaved my head right at the beginning to cope with COVID-19. So, I need something to change my crappy mood.

This means only one thing: I need tattoo therapy. I only have three so far and one day I need a whole sleeve and possibly a back piece (that would be super dope).

Luckily, I'm friends with the owners of Cynical Tattoos of Northport. They've served the Tuscaloosa and Northport area for more than 15 years.

Cynical's staff is comprised of award-winning artists and is the area's cleanest shop. The shop was voted First Place in Best of the Best. Even the owner, Chris Howton, has won quite a few awards throughout his years of being an artist.

I ran the idea of getting a Matthew McConaughey face tattoo to cover up a really bad Irish flag that I got when I was 16. It's really nasty and looks like a 6-year-old did it. Another tattoo I would love would be a Hunter S. Thompson face tattoo with a cigarette in his mouth.

Some therapists say tattoos can be used as a coping mechanism for people who have depression or struggle with anxiety. I admit it gives me some kind of emotional pleasure or high to get pierced or tattooed. It's basically an alternative form of therapy.

I don't know if it's a coping mechanism for me, though. Thinking back, sometimes yes, but most times, no.
