September is 'Indoor Plant Month' so I'm going to explore the wonderful world of plants here in the Yellowhammer State!

Since quarantine started, I've been very much into gardening and planting just to stay busy and sane, I even have been helping friends out with their yard and such just to feel like I'm doing something. OKAY! With all that being said here is the national list of the most bought and sought after indoor plants here in the US!

Top Searched House Plants from June 2019 to June 2020” Map />
Every state had a houseplant that they had a strong interest in based on their search volume. Some were more unique, such as Louisiana, with its interest in the Cast Iron plant, while others jumped on the Succulent or Aloe Vera train and never looked back.

Somewhat surprisingly, Succulents were nowhere near the top-searched houseplant over the past year. Succulents were easily beaten out by Aloe Vera, Common Ivy, African Violets, Basil, and even tied with Dracaena.
<img src=

Looking around the nation, it seems like all states are hanging with Aloe Vera! Which gets me to ask the question 'why?'

Aloe vera gel contains powerful antioxidants belonging to a large family of substances known as polyphenols. These polyphenols, along with several other compounds in aloe vera, help inhibit the growth of certain bacteria that can cause infections in humans. In dumb man terms, it has antioxidant and antibacterial properties.
