As Tropical Storm Zeta quickly approaches, the tropical storm watch for Tuscaloosa County and surrounding counties has been upgraded to a warning.

As of this story's publication, the storm is located about 500 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa. It is intensifying at 90 mph and is expected to make landfall along the northern gulf coast tonight. We are expecting an overnight storm system to pass over Tuscaloosa and central Alabama.

Wind speeds are expected to reach 50 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. We will definitely see a few inches of rain and there is potential for flash flooding.

While a tornado is certainly is possible tonight, the threat remains low. This is primarily being monitored in the southern and southeastern portions of central Alabama.

Make sure to have an emergency preparedness plan in place in the event of severe weather. Know the closest shelters, have a bag of essentials ready to go, and do not leave the house without sneakers.

This site will provide updates as they become available.
