ALT 101.7 is proud to announce our partnership with Child Abuse Prevention Services of Tuscaloosa. Their mission and objective is to provide education and awareness programs for the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

CAPS provides prevention and treatment education in an effort to break the cycle of child maltreatment, so that children can have a healthy childhood. They offer school and community based programs. They also provide services to Pre K-12th grade students in Tuscaloosa County and City School systems. Through their community based prevention programs they provide educational programs: Shaken Baby Syndrome, Nurturing Parenting classes, Nurturing Baby/Safe Sleep program, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Understanding Prenatal Drug Exposure, Sudden unexplained Infant Death and Signs of Child Abuse and How to Report. All of their community programs are offered to various clubs, groups, agencies, recovery shelters, and organizations. They receive referrals for Nurturing Parenting and Nurturing Baby/Safe Sleep programs from local agencies and courts. Their  school-based programs are delivered in the classrooms of local schools in 30 to 40 minutes.

Their mission of helping local children and families is what we stand for here in Tuscaloosa. Upcoming events to benefit their organization will be announced soon!
