Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is an officially authorized documentary from HBO films; its first trailer hit the internet today.  You can watch the trailer for the documentary above; the video is from Yahoo! UK.

Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is set to premiere on HBO May 4th. The documentary features content from Kurt and his family's personal archives: photos, home videos, artwork, journal entries, and much more. Nirvana songs and performances will also be a part of the documentary, as well as previously unheard songs from Kurt himself. The Hollywood Reporter noted that the film's soundtrack is set to include a 12-minute acoustic performance from Kurt, too.

Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck has been met with much critical acclaim and was one of the highlights of this year's Sundance Festival. I can't wait to be able to watch its premiere on HBO.

As a '90's kid, Nirvana had a huge impact on me. I remember discovering their music for the first time and being so overwhelmed by the amount of raw emotion the band was able to deliver in its songs and in Kurt's poetic lyrics. I was devastated when Kurt died--it was a moment that would forever be etched on the hearts of so many teens.

I'll always have a special place in my heart for the Nirvana songs that helped me navigate the chaos and isolation of my adolescence. Now that I am older, I have a greater understanding of those songs. I listen to them now, and I can still feel the pain in Kurt's voice.

It's an echo I don't think we'll ever escape.
