Two people in Walker County have been arrested and accused of abusing the corpse of a Tuscaloosa woman who went missing earlier this month.

In a post to the Walker County Sheriff's Office Facebook, investigators said the body was discovered on August 4th by a woman who was showing her grandson a pondnear Oakman, Alabama.

The deceased was identified as Cayla Michelle Garner, a 30-year-old woman who had been reported missing to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office hours before her body was found.

The cause and manner of Garner's death has not been determined pending autopsy and toxicology tests, but police in Walker County found enough evidence during their investigation to arrest two people for felony abuse of a corpse.

Police said 23-year-old Jordan Allen Lopez and 27-year-old  Kayla Michelle Black, both of Oakman, were charged with Abuse of Corpse, for violation of an Alabama code that outlaws treating a human corpose "in a way that would outrage ordinary family sensibilities.

No further details were available Tuesday afternoon.
