I am a hopeless romantic. I am also frugal...O.K. cheap.  I don't like to spend a lot of money on holiday's like Valentine's Day, but I love my wife dearly.  There are ways to be romantic and not spend a ton of money. I have done everything on this list over the years. Some of the ideas do take a little bit of work.  These are my 5 favorite money-saving Valentine's Day Ideas.

5. Sidewalk Chalk

This one is the most simple and the least expensive option of all.  Just write something or draw something romantic in sidewalk chalk on your driveway or sidewalk. Your partner will think it is romantic. Then they will make you clean it up.

4. Personalized Hershey's Kisses

I got this idea from one of my co-workers.  One year I took an entire bag of Hershey's Kisses and replaced each of the little ribbons that go in each chocolate with my own personal messages.  It works best to print out all of the messages first on a sheet of paper and then cut them out.

3. Box Of Valentines

This was one of my favorites. One Valentines Day I bought a box of kids' Shrek valentines.  I gave my wife 34 valentines with a different message on each one.  Its cheap. It's simple and they will love it. It does take a little writing and coming up with over 30 different messages can be tough.

2. Print A Card From The Internet

There are a ton of free card sights on the internet.  Some are for digital cards. Some are printable cards.

1. Make Your Own Valentine

My wife still tells me her favorite Valentine ever was when I made a card for her.  I put our wedding picture on it and a picture of Breckenridge Ski Resort (Our First Date).  I think I even said something fairly clever and romantic on the card.  My biggest problem with making my own card is that I am not very artistic, but if you try, it will pay off.  By the way, my wife made the card below.

I would have included the Loveland Re-Mailing Program on this list, but it's too late to mail a card this year. Keep it in mind for next year.

So, what am I doing for my wife this Valentine's day?  We are getting a couples massage.
