UA Hockey Club Seeking Donations to Continue Program
The University of Alabama Hockey Club is seeking donations to continue their program.
Founded in 2005, the UA Hockey Club has been made by students and run by students. The team has gone through tremendous growth throughout the years, now having two teams: one in the American Collegiate Hockey Association in Division 1 and a Division 3 team in the South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Unfortunately, like many organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic not only cancelled their 2020-2021 season, but also left a financial hardship on the program, which mainly relies on merchandise sales, tickets, and donations.
According to their social media, the UA Hockey Club needs to raise $18,000 by September 1, 2021, to keep the locker room they have at their facility, and other finances, including: traveling, uniforms, etc. They play at the Pelham Civic Complex Center in Pelham, Ala., about 50 miles east of Tuscaloosa.
“There are many people who are dedicated to this program and want to see it thrive and by getting the donations needed it can not only keep the program alive but also be able to allow us to give the players, the interns that run the staff and the fan base a season like no other and help save the locker room,” said Delaney Galbraith, head of marketing and staff for the UA Hockey Club. “This program means so much to everyone involved. I just want to be able to show everyone why Alabama hockey matters.”
