Two Tide Quarterbacks Find New Homes After Spending Time in the Transfer Portal

The college football offseason is well underway and athletes are making decisions on their football futures. Several Alabama football players opted to enter the transfer portal after the season and now several have found new homes.

Quarterbacks Paul Tyson and Stone Hollenbach took to their social media accounts over the weekend to announce their destinations. Tyson will take his talents to the Pac-12 and play for the Arizona State Sun Devils. Hollenbach will head to the MAC and play for Western Michigan.

Tyson, a former 4-star prospect out of Hewitt-Trussville High School, is the great-grandson of Alabama legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. He saw action for the Crimson Tide in 2021 as the holder for the Alabama field goal unit.

As a backup quarterback he completed 10 passes for 150 yards during his time at The Capstone.

He leaves Tuscaloosa to compete for the starting job at Arizona State where junior quarterback Jayden Daniels will be returning for his senior year. Tyson will have three seasons of eligibility remaining to play out his college career.

Hollenbach, a walkon with the Crimson Tide, will head to Western Michigan and try to compete with incumbent starter, Kaleb Eleby. Eleby, a redshirt sophomore, passed for over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Broncos.

Alabama will still be loaded at quarterback despite losing Tyson and Hollenbach. The Crimson Tide brings back the Heisman Trophy winner in Bryce Young and boasts athletic specimen Jalen MIlroe as well as incoming freshman 5-star Ty Simpson on the 2022 roster.
