Tuscaloosa’s First Volksfest to Be Held at Government Plaza Downtown Saturday, April 2
A new German heritage festival is coming to T-Town! Tuscaloosa Volksfest will be held in Government Plaza on Saturday, April 2, 2016.
The Volksfest will be a fun-filled day devoted to celebrating German heritage in Tuscaloosa. Volksfest features German foods, live music, a tent serving locally brewed beers and German craft beers, children's activities, arts and crafts, a recent and late model German car show, and more.
Musical acts will include traditional German music by Wolfgang Moritz, Tuscaloosa's own Smooth Saddles, Frayed Knot, and Horizon. Take a look at the schedule below:
- Wolfgang Moritz, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Frayed Knot, 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Horizon, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Smooth Saddles, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Volksfest will include a stein-holding competition, a traditional Bavarian clothing contest, and carnival games. Kids will be able to enjoy a petting zoo, bounce slides, face painting, and an obstacle course. There will also be a raffle. Check out the Volksfest schedule of events:

Tuscaloosa Volksfest is a fundraiser for FOCUS on Senior Citizens, a local non-profit dedicated to meeting the needs of seniors, keeping them active, happy, and healthy.
Tickets are currently available via Brown Paper Tickets. General Admission tickets are $15 each. Preferred Package tickets are $25 and come with a Volksfest shirt and promotional stein. VIP tickets include a shirt, a promotional stein, and access to a special beer and food tasting party; VIP tickets are $50 each.
