Tuscaloosa Preservation Society to Hold Open Houses

If you've ever driven past some of the historic homes in Tuscaloosa and wondered about their decor, layout, architecture, or more, you'll soon have the chance to ease your curiosity.

According to the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society, Christmas Open House events will be held at the Battle Friedman Home, Jemison Mansion, Murphy-Collins African American Museum, Old Tavern, and McGuire-Strickland Home from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 8.

A 1950s Christmas at the Battle Friedman Home will include vintage table coverings, home décor, stockings hanging with care, refreshments from 1950s recipes, an electric train(owned by Mr Dexter Hancock) to travel around the overly tinseled tree, toys, dolls, and games from the era as well as greeters in 1950s garb, Santa Claus with 50s inspired toys for children, and entertainment!
