Tuscaloosa Fire Deploys Swift Water Rescue Team to Assist with Hurricane Laura Relief Efforts
18 members of the Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue's Swift Water Rescue Team are headed to Louisiana to assist with Hurricane Laura relief efforts.
A press release from the Fire Department states the team prepared for deployment yesterday after a request from the Alabama Mutual Aid System within the Alabama Emergency Management Agency.
The Tuscaloosa team will be comprised of firefighters and paramedics, taking eight vehicles pulling trailers and boats to Baton Rouge and then heading to Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Swift Water Rescue Team will assist with evacuations, search and rescue operations, and damage assessment.
The team will be deployed for the next two weeks.
