A release was made yesterday by the Tuscaloosa County School System in inquire for new bus drivers for the upcoming school year.

I have the release made publicly by the Tuscaloosa County School System below:

The Tuscaloosa County School System Transportation Department will hold a New Driver Training Orientation Session on Monday, June 22 at 5:30 pm. The orientation session will be held at the TCSS Northport Bus Shop, located at 3700 68th Avenue in Northport. The session will last approximately one hour and will provide all the necessary information for becoming a school bus driver for the Tuscaloosa County School System. Registration is not required to attend the session. The New Driver Training Classes will begin Monday, June 29, and will continue through Friday, July 31. The time for classes is still to be determined.

TCSS is looking for drivers to serve on bus routes across our entire county. Driving a school bus is a way to play an important role in the education of children. Through driving just a few hours each day, bus drivers are eligible for health benefits and Alabama State Retirement benefits. Drivers have summers off, and there are opportunities to earn extra income driving additional routes. Many of our drivers work additional jobs or are self-employed.

Although TCSS is still awaiting guidance from the Alabama State Department of Education on specific guidelines for the reopening of schools in August, we must still be prepared with trained drivers to serve our students. As we learn more about specific guidelines from the state, we will implement those into our transportation system, and train staff accordingly.

For more information, contact the Tuscaloosa County School System Transportation Department at (205) 342-2732.

So if you're looking to get into a new career or jump back into driving, this job could be right down your alley!
