The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a tornado watch for Tuscaloosa County and many of the surrounding areas as severe weather moves into the state on Tuesday evening.

The tornado watch is in effect until 10PM tonight with the strongest weather entering West Alabama after dark.

The city of Tuscaloosa will open its shelters for people looking for a place to take safe cover. The storms have caused some reported damage in areas of Mississippi and could bring winds up to 70 mph.
