The end of the school year doesn’t mean the end of business and progress.

Tuesday night, the Tuscaloosa City Schools announced the hiring of Dr. J. Tygar Evans as principal at Northridge High School and Amy Tilford as the principal at the Alberta School of Performing Arts.

Evans worked as a teacher in the Tuscaloosa City Schools in the late 1980s before moving to Georgia, where he was principal of Rome High School, which became one of the U.S. News and World Report’s “Best High Schools in America” while under his leadership.

Tilford is currently an assistant principal at Eastwood Middle School and has worked in the Tuscaloosa City Schools for over a decade.

The community is invited to meet the new principals on Thursday, May 30 at their respective schools, beginning at 5:30 p.m. for Tilford and 7 p.m. for Evans.

It takes a special skill to be enthused about cultivating the lives of children. So, be sure to not only congratulate these leaders but to also thank them.
