Tuscaloosa City Council Delays Purchase of McFarland Mall Property
We'll have to wait a little longer to see any changes to McFarland Mall. The Tuscaloosa City Council voted last night to delay its commitment of $28 million to purchase more than 64 acres of property currently owned by Stan Pate.
The City Council will take 45 days to investigate how it will fund the purchase and use the land, which includes the McFarland Mall site and a 7.3 acre lot at the intersection of McFarland Boulevard and Rice Mine Road.
I hope the City of Tuscaloosa eventually chooses to purchase and develop this property. Changes are DESPERATELY needed at McFarland Mall; it's such an eyesore!
