Tuscaloosa City And County Schools Delay Start Of School Year
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we all witnessed a new normal for students across our area. They have been completing the school semester at home. Teachers, parents and our children have really made it through. Now the thoughts are summer educational programs, and when will school start? Will school even go back into session for the fall? What about sports? Food programs? Music programs? And more. Personally, I look forward to Fall High School Football and Marching Band season.
As we know, the Alabama High School Athletic Association has canceled all summer competitions. There is also an expected update from the association to students and schools between May 22nd and June 1st.
According to WVUA, “The first day of school for students in the Tuscaloosa City School Systems will be Thursday, Aug. 20.” Also, WVUA reported that “Students in the Tuscaloosa County School System will also start classes on Aug. 20.”
According to the Tuscaloosa City Schools Facebook page, they remind you to be sure to register your child for school and return school books. On the Tuscaloosa County School System website, you can find an approved revised 2020-2021 calendar.
