On Monday, January 20th the Tuscaloosa Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.

The MLK Jr. Unity Day Breakfast will be at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church at 7am, and it will include an address from Dr. Charles Steele, Jr., National President and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. I addition, national recording gospel group The Wardlaw Brothers will perform, and State Senator Bobby Singleton will receive the Drum Major for Justice Award.

At 12 noon, the MLK Unity Day March will leave MLK Elementary and end at the steps of City Hall.

At 6pm the MLK Mass Rally will be at First African Baptist Church. Rev. Bruce Henderson, Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, will be the speaker with his church choir and The Anointed Brown Sisters as musical guests. Reverend Clarence Sutton, Jr. will be honored, and the Drum Major for Community Service Award will be presented to Christian Community Church.
