Tuscaloosa CommUNITY is an event aimed to connect communities in West Alabama. It will feature free food will supplies last, employment opportunities, and presentations on entrepreneurship, and financial wellness.

This is the second year for the Tuscaloosa CommUNITY event at the McDonald Hughes Center.

"This year’s event will be similar to the last, but more focused," said Dan McCormack of the Chesapeake Unity Foundation.

"This one will emphasize healthcare, education, community resources, and a connection to law enforcement."

West Alabama Works will be on location registering people for employment opportunities. Inside the main area of the event, Michele Coley of Allstate Insurance will give a presentation about entrepreneurship and Jacquie Johnson of Alabama One will speak on Financial Wellness.

"We are committed to breaking those barriers and uniting all citizens of this city, regardless of their demographic or location," said McCormack.

"The way to unite people continues to be through building relationships, and building relationships takes time. Year two is simply the next step in building those relationships - and ultimately, trust and love."

Tuscaloosa CommUNITY will begin at 10a and end at 2p with lunch being served by Jalapenos while supplies last.

The McDonald Hughes Center is located at 3101 Martin Luther King Jr. Blv in Tuscaloosa.
