Tua Tagovailoa Already One of the Early Favorites to Win Heisman in 2018
The hype train has already left the station for Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
The offensive MVP of this year's national championship hasn't started a game and isn't guaranteed to start next season, but oddsmakers have already pegged him as one of the favorites to win the 2018 Heisman Trophy.
Odds were released just two weeks after Alabama hoisted the College Football Playoff Championship Trophy and Tagovailoa is listed behind just three other players.
There's plenty of reason to be excited about the Tagovailoa's future under center after seeing what he accomplished in limited time last season. The freshman completed nearly 64 percent of his passes for 636 yards, 11 touchdowns, and two interceptions. But it was his performance in the second half against Georgia which has created a lot of excitement around the Alabama offense next season.
Down 13-0, Nick Saban put the freshman in to start the second half at quarterback. He would go on to throw for 166 yards and three touchdowns, including a game-winning, 41-yard strike to DeVonta Smith in overtime to beat Georgia. It will go down as one of the most memorable halves of football in Crimson Tide history, and it created lofty expectations for the southpaw.
Alabama opens the 2018 season with a trip to Orlando to play Louisville, but there's still a lot of competition left to happen at the quarterback position before that day.
