TRENDING IN TUSCALOOSA: Northport, Alabama Roadwork Causing Road Rage
Northport, Alabama is going to see more people killed in their streets.
We all know we ALREADY have a serious problem in West Alabama with pedestrians being struck and killed.
It is a big problem and it puts our town on the map for all the wrong reasons. Tuscaloosa/Northport, Alabama has one of the HIGHEST rates of pedestrian accidents in all of the Southeast.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has even begun a new program aimed at awareness of this problem, called, "EVERYONE IS A PEDESTRIAN".
Sorry, ALEA, but if that was remotely true, none of them would get run over. BUT, we're not all pedestrians.
Most of us are trying to drive somewhere and we're usually running late.
I AM A PROUD NORTHPORT RESIDENT.
I was, at least. I have always loved living in Northport.
That was until I sat on McFarland, a mile from my home, for about TWO hours at 6:00pm on a recent Tuesday evening.
Uhhhh, NO.
That is insane.
This absurdity in Northport wasn't a slow build to the disaster we currently are dealing with in Northport.
It was sudden!
Complete chaos in just a flash.
You can't turn anywhere you want to actually turn. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING.
You have to drive to Atlanta just so you can turn around.
It is the biggest mess of ridiculousness you can imagine.
I can't imagine how awful it is on all of the fine folks who own businesses in Northport.
In 2022, with everything we know now about working smarter, THIS IS THE BEST THEY CAN DO?
It's hard to imagine anyone planned to do it this way. It's too haphazard and backwards to be intentional, right?
This is a major malfunction on every level yet don't get me wrong. I still love Northport.
We're growing and thriving and Mayor Bobby Herndon has done a fantastic job as our city leader.
HOWEVER, I MUST MAKE THIS CLEAR.
THE PARTIES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAILY ROAD CONSTRUCTION MCFARLAND NIGHTMARE, NEED TO BE CHARGED, TRIED AND JAILED!
I believe the roadwork construction project was "planned" after an all night bar crawl around 3:30 am.
I am convinced the meeting went something like this....
SO, THINGS SEEM PRETTY GOOD IN NORTHPORT AT THE MOMENT.
WHO HAS THE BEST IDEAS ON WAYS WE CAN COMPLETELY SCREW TRAFFIC ON MCFARLAND UP?
I NEED IDEAS THAT WILL MESS UP EVERY PART OF NORTHPORT, ALABAMA FROM MCFARLAND AND BEYOND!
WHO'S FIRST?
