The National Weather Service in Birmingham hasn't completely ruled out the possibility of a tornado with this weather system, as a new watch has been issued through the overnight hours.

The issued advisory calls for TORNADO WATCH until 4 a.m. (Wednesday, Feb. 3) for the following West Alabama counties:

  • Bibb
  • Greene
  • Hale
  • Pickens
  • Sumter
  • Tuscaloosa

A watch does not mean that the severe weather is actually occurring, only that atmospheric conditions have created a significant risk for it. If severe weather actually does occur, a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning would then be issued.
