James Gunn is hard at work making The Suicide Squad — and this is interesting, because the first Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer, felt a lot like Guardians of the Galaxy, to the point that you almost wondered where the producers were actively setting out to make a DC Comics version of that Marvel blockbuster. So what does a James Gunn Suicide Squad look like? And more importantly, will his Suicide Squad be better than the last one we got?
The new video by ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey explores both films, Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy, and tries to figure out why, despite their similarities, one works so well and the other doesn’t.
