Police in Tuscaloosa are looking for a driver who was caught on a dash camera running into a local fire truck and immediately leaving the scene.

In a Friday morning Facebook post, a police spokesperson said the collision took place on the evening of August 19th, two Fridays ago.

Police said the driver of what appears to be a 2010-2014 Hyundai Elantra crossed into the wrong lane of traffic on Hargrove Road to pass two emergency vehicles who were running lights and sirens on their way to treat a stroke patient in need of immediate medical attention.

The impatient driver passes a Northstar ambulance and is overtaking a Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue truck before briefly losing control of their SUV as they crossed over the train tracks. As they tried to cut back into the proper lane, they slammed the TFR truck and kept on driving.

The Police Department is asking for assistance identifying the driver who hits the truck in the video.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or its driver is urged to call the police department at 205-349-2121.
